With our resources , we seek to ensure that that a child will not compete at a disadvantage due to lack of quality equipment and support.
The Spiering Family Foundation (SFF) is a nonprofit charitable organization founded to perpetuate the memory of Harold Smallwood, a distinguished member of the University of Southern California and 1936 U.S. Olympic track and field teams. SFF accomplishes this mission by fostering and promoting the health, education and personal development of young athletes and others in San Diego County.
Serving as a tireless advocate for those with the greatest need, SFF assists increasing numbers of scholastically and athletically promising youths in obtaining higher education through SFF's various nondiscriminatory scholarship programs. SFF's grant making and leadership initiatives are principally designed to provide opportunities to underprivileged and disadvantaged youths, and to nurture, encourage and reinforce academic, athletic and personal excellence. The programs and activities conducted by SFF allow the youths to remain in a safe, constructive and healthy atmosphere during the formative years of their lives, which in turn furthers SFFs goal of fostering the development of future community leaders and social capital.
